Telling Our Story: A Documentary and Three-Book Memoir
I’m beginning a short documentary series on YouTube about my story—especially the fear I carry when I think about the future and my child’s safety. These are difficult subjects, but they are part of what I’ve lived through and what I’m still trying to understand.
I’m also creating a podcast documentary that records more of what has happened to us. It will explore my experiences and the concerns I have about corruption and failures within the legal system and organizations that were involved. I want to document the questions, events, and lasting effects as clearly as I can, and give people a chance to hear my perspective.
The YouTube documentaries will share the story in a shorter, more focused form. There are details that I won’t be able to include in those videos, so I’m also preparing to write a three-part memoir series. The books will let me tell more of the story in depth, with the memories, context, and details that need more room.
The memoirs will address the abuse we experienced, what I describe as slavery, the corruption I believe we encountered, and the systemic entrapment that can leave people feeling caught in situations they can’t easily escape. I’ll also write about the struggle to keep going, make sense of what happened, and find a way forward.
This is a big project, and I know it will take time. I’m sharing it because I want to tell our story in more than one way: through short documentaries, a podcast documentary, and books that can hold the fuller details. My hope is that, by putting the story into words and on record, I can help others understand what we went through—and why telling it matters to me.
